Hi. I recently got a car through y'all.
In fact, it was 2 weeks ago this last Friday. So I went to make my payment and realized I still needed to update my insurance. I realized it a little too late and could not do it until tomorrow (Monday). I had my full car payment, just not the CPI because, well, I wasn't expecting to pay it and forgot to switch it.
Yes, that's my fault; I understand that. Instead of waiting till Monday for the CPI payment or for me to get my insurance switched over, the lady, Heather, I believe from CNAC, tells me (this is Saturday) that there are repo guys in my area to recover the vehicle. By this point, I had $302, and my payment with the CPI is $331.75. She says no, not good enough.
So I gathered up $310—nope, not good enough. So I had gotten a hold of my sister, who was going to give me the $21; she was on her way to my house. But they literally just took my car. So I called Byrider and said, 'Listen, they're not even out of town; it was like 2 minutes that had passed.
I have the rest of the money; can you please send them back?' Nope. She said I have to come up there Monday to pay a repo fee and whatever else. Can you tell me how it is that she couldn't even wait until Monday? Or even have them just bring my car back because they were still in town!
It blows my mind that they say they are here to help people with second chances/people who can't get a typical car loan?? To me, it seems like they prey on people like me, and I don't feel that's what this company was meant to be like. I can't afford repo fees and whatever BS they want to attach to this. Literally, I'm already being charged $23,000 for an $8,000 car.
They tack so much interest on that the ending price is 3 times the original asking price?! Nonetheless, I was willing to pay it. But this is crazy to me. Please, can something be done?
I need a car. I put $1,200 down of my own money to have them come take it 2 weeks after I get it?
Can I at least get my deposit back?

- It seems like they are here to catch you up for anything so they can take your car and either resell it or tac on more and more money so they can line their own pockets
Preferred solution: Either them to bring my car back to me and remove any repo fees or refund my $1200 I put down 2 weeks ago.

Since getting the vehicle which is a 2013 Malibu LT, I've had none stop mechanical issues, took to shop several times and even more issues, replaced a lot of parts on vehicle just for it to just about be ready for the junk yard, the mechanic is literally messing the car up even more each time it went in,spent at least close to 3-5 grand on repairs, the guy is rude argumentive and doesn't listen. I think for paying $508 a month for the $40,000 loan on a car that's literally only worth $13,000 at most is already ridiculous but what can you do when you need a car quick, this is the 3rd roll over on junk.they are a scam and ruining people's credit knowingly and it's disgusting how they treat their customers.i wouldn't recommend them to anyone, nothing but problems ,I'm not amused I want to scream from all this.idk how they live with themselves doing what they do to people.ugh
User's recommendation: I suggest looking elsewhere.

Verified Reviewer |Find out what I can do because I’m getting tired of almost 2 months without my car i’m not very happy right now
The car broke down almost 2 months ago because the engine was bad. I spoke to your manager at this location and they arranged for it to be taken to the shop for repairs.
That was two months ago. They ordered a new engine and installed it. However, they haven't received a response from the supplier. They need to see if the warranty covers the new engine.
Each time they call, they are refused and receive no answer.
I want to resolve this situation because I want my car back. I'm making payments but I don't have a car, which is not right.

I have had problems one after another since the first week I got my car. My salesman told me I'm stuck with this car and they will fix it for as long as they have to, but he is impossible to get ahold of when it comes time to get it fixed. He expects me to pay for the repairs even though I told them from the beginning my intentions were never to buy a car that would nickel and dime me!

Verified ReviewerPoor Service
We took the car to a shop and it's a timing chain issue with the engine. If it's a new engine, why do we still have engine issues?
Why did they have it for 3 months and not fix it right the 1st time.
Then let us drive with it not fixed. We have families too.
We've called and called with no call back from the company. High interest on a vehicle that keeps having problems.
The 1st time they had our car for about a month before they fixed it.
Soon after we got it back (supposed to have new engine) the engine light came back on. We've called with no response from the company.
- High interest

Verified Reviewer |They put false ads on Facebook
They were rude when I told them I would contact corporate and pissed consumer the guy said good luck they won't do ***
I followed an ad on Facebook for Byrider. It stated that, for 300 dollars down, all you need is your license, insurance, and proof of income and address.
After providing all my info, I went to the store, and they told me it would be 2300 dollars down. I showed them the conversation and the ad. They responded by saying, 'Well, that's what it will be. We don't finance broke-ass people.' I was so insulted and pissed off that I walked out.
I will never do business with them. Columbus Byrider is full of racist, rude, nasty people.

Verified Reviewer |They tried to cheat me!!!
In my experience with JD by Ryder on Laurens Road in Greenville, South Carolina was not a pleasant I went in on a Wednesday afternoon to fill out all of my paperwork for a 2007 Yukon Denali. I was never informed about a down payment or cost of down payment, I was also told that the vehicle may not be there because it was such a hot commodity.
I go back up on a Thursday morning to take money to them for a down payment, they told me that my $1000 down payment was not sufficient enough and that it would require $2000 down so I proceeded to ask about the deferred down payment program and the 199 down delivers advertisement that they love to advertise so much I was told because of my credit score and a repossession that I had with the same company nearly 15 years ago that required A $3000 down payment if I wanted anything off of their lot I dont know what constitutes a 17 year old vehicle being required to have a $3000 down payment but its ridiculous. The Better Business Bureau should investigate and shut down this place.
Preferred solution: Price reduction

Preferred solution: A vehicle and use mine as trade for down payment

If you planned on getting your own insurance, how were you going to pay for it before your car payment was due? Quit making things up. You created your own grief.
Wow instead of ASSuming you know everything why don't you put your little brain cells to work....I was having my insurance SWITCHED OVER and needed until Monday!
Little brain cells? I’m not the one who did not update their insurance.
I’m not the one who chose a non-business day to make their payment. I’m not the one who did not make sure they had $332 to make the payment. In your position, you should have had a note on your fridge, your car dash, your bathroom mirror and the inside of your front door reminding you of that payment.
Little brain cells? Here’s a mirror.
